But To Fly Amongst The Mountains...

I watched 'Prozac Nation' today, based on the semi autobiographical novel by Elizabeth Wurtzel and I began to wonder of she’s right, in a world so full of technological and medical advances we are the unhappiest. 3oo million prescriptions a year are filled for Prozac or other types of anti-depressants. 3oo million. That’s about one for every person in Australia, 15 times over. That’s a lot of drugs. So do we live in a world that now must rely on prescription drugs to make us happy? Where does happiness come from and where did it go? Why is it so hard to be happy and stay happy these days? And I don’t mean Tom’s definition of happy either. Its true. For people like me it just seems easier to be angry or sad, because at least this emotion means we are still alive. Since happiness seems to exist as such a rarity, we don’t know what we are feeling when we experience it or how to cope accordingly. i think. being happy seems like one of those things you dream about....
