Listening To:Wow! Its been ages since I have posted, I've been busy with uni going back, family, and of course, the new layout. Thankfully the feedback about my layout has all been positive. I'm 95% happy with it. Eventually I would like a second sidebar on the right hand side, but for now its okay.
Moving on.
Firstly, some old pictures from that time we went to the Ice Arena.
Ali and JAmes up in the stands
The beginnings of a new game... the boys invented i ce hockey, less the hockey stick, less a hockey puck, add a bottle cap. There were no rules except Kick the bottle cap around the rink! Uber fun!
Justin and Chris, have there ever been funnier people!?
Enough Said!
Simon! Awesome Pic.
Okay, so lets fast forward a little bit, to March 9th, The beautiful Ronnie's 18th Birthday. To celebrate, Tate, Raf, Bel, Jenkins, Nick and Nod went to watch the Fringe show that Steph was in, called "Wanted". We still don't know what it was ABOUT, but Steph was really good, much singing and dancing and being silly! Afterwards, we met up with Juan and headed back into the city, to The Elephant. We were met by Kel, Emo, Rachel and Lauren. After kicking back 2 Vodka and Limes, 2 Vodka Sunsets, a beer and a Cowboy, it was time for Juan and I to go. But I hear that the others stayed back, Raf and Jenkins kindly taking a very knackered Ronnie home. It was a good night.
The next night was FRIDAY, which meant some uni, a statistics practical which was fairly easy =D, and then.... ARJ BARKER!!
Juan and I went to his see His show, called Ego No Amigo as part of the Fringe Festival. It was HILARIOUS! He was a guru, informing us of the evils of the world. His attire was great, inculding a large purple sheet, SHPANTS! and Birkenstocks with SOCKS!! Mmmmm HOT! Shpants are the greatest thing ever.
Shpants!Afterwards we met him and he signed a copy of his cd for us. He's a lovely guy.
Saturday bought a 3 hour shift at Brumby's and then home. Juan came over and we went out dinner and then to Norwood. We went on the Dance Dance Revolution machine, those Japanese dancing machines. UBER FUN!
And then we went and saw Match Point, the new Woody Allen movie starring Scarlett Johannson and Jonothan Rhys Myers. Surprisingly, very VERY good! The first 5 minutes, I was a little worried, I thought I would be bored, but woah! Its not really like any movie I have seen before. Its definately a go see movie.
This poster is cooler than all the others.
Sunday bought more work, and then a long sleep, for sunday night meant... GIG!!! The Getaway Plan, Taking Back Sunday and Alkaline Trio were playing in the Fowlers Live Courtyard from 7pm. After a massive line up we got in to see The Get Up Kids last few songs. They're pretty good.
After a break, and some setting up time, Taking Back Sunday took the stage. Just as their first song begun, the sky opened up and the rain started pouring down. After a few days of relentless heat, this was welcomed by everyone. Taking Back Sunday played all the favourites, This Photograph Is Proof (I know You Know), One-Eighty By Summer, You Know How I Do. They played The Blue Channel and Timberwolves At New Jersey "I got the mic and you got the moshpit!" AWESOME! The also played a few new songs off their new album (like, MakeDamnSure which you can listen to on their
MySpace), which will be out April 29th W00t!! ALSO, they played Cute Without The 'E' (Cut From The Team) EVERYONE"S favourite song, It was the greatest thing ever. Before the song came on, the rain had slowed a little, but the first few chords started, the crowd all surged forward, the rain started POURING down, and the crowd started singing and jumping simulateously. I think the greatest gig moment ever. Everyone knew every single word, the band was up for a singalong and the rain wasn't letting up.
Fred claimed he felt like a fish wearing clothes and playing a guitar. Hehe
The guys were also really nice, not doing that whole, "wow Adelaide is the greatest city ever" routine that we all hear to often. However, they had this to say on their website:
"
Australia Update
posted on 12 Mar 2006 by: matt
We are absolutely blown away by all of you that have come to the 2 shows we have done so far. Perth is such a beautiful city and the excitement at the Capitol was the best first show we could have hoped for. Tonight, the Adelaide crowd was badass enough to endure the entire (outdoor) show in the rain. Not just a little rain either, but steady, increasingly heavy rain. You guys were amazing. Still no Koala or Kangaroo sitings but theres still hope and many shows yet to be played.
Australia is starting to feel like another 'home' for us.
Thank you all so much.
we will return as often as possible.
WE'RE HERE!!

So after 243,002 hours on a plane, we have finally arrived in Perth and preparing for our first show in australia tomorrow. It is sunny and beautiful here and we cant wait to play these shows. theres something sweet and clean about the air here. im about to go into the bathroom of the hotel room to see about the toilet flushing the other way. Ive been curious about that for a while now. "
Alkaline Trio were the headlining act, which is interesting, because my guess is that most people came to see Taking Back Sunday. Anyway, Alkaline Trio were still awesome. Some guy in the front right yelled out "Play Bleeder!", one of their old songs. He wouldn't shut up and so they agreed, but only after telling us it would sound shit coz they haven't played it in over four years.
CHILDREN OF SATAN!!
It was an awesome night.
Monday was a public holiday, and thus the day to celebrate Jacob's birthday (belatedly). We all went to the park, ate BBQ, played games, and were merry. It was super fun!
Haha Tom, gearing up to play Extreme Tennis!
Rugby...as usual
Ohh Poker... I went from having 2 chips to having many! W00t, I love poker!
It seems that black tops and jeans were very much the theme of the day =D
Two more final things... If you are up for some interesting reading, I suggest you visit this site. It's called
One Red Paperclip and it is documenting a guy who started off with a paperclip and making a series of trades until he gets a house. Pretty cool idea.
The other thing is a small video I saw when I crashed Jenkins and Raf's Communications lecture. Its really interesting, and only about 8 minutes long, I suggest you check it out. It's about the growing media network and the role huge corporations like Google play in it.
EpicOkay, I think thats about it. Hope you enjoyed the huge update.
