Oh How I Wish To Dream Again

Ok, so the cool post about Lorne Melbourne Trip has past, I had fun, thats pretty much all you need to know.

In the mean time, lots of other cool stuff has been happening. On Wednesday it was Australia Day, and to show our patriotism, we had a Triple J Hottest 100 BBQ at Jo's house. It was an awesome day, with swimming, and tennis, and food, and good music. As predicted by most Franz Ferdinands' 'Take Me Out' came in at No. 1 by a landslide. But I was pretty impressed by the entire top 10, which shaped up something like this -

On Thursday I met Emo in town and we shopped til we dropped, not really, we bought close to nothing and dropped within 2 hrs. We sat on the ground in Rundle Mall waiting for Jesskah to arrive, and received so many pitying stares, it was uncanny. Jess arrived and we stayed put on the ground fro another half hour. One guy walked past and rudely commented "Don't you have a home to go to?" to which Emo promptly replied "Well, actually no." It was hilarious, the look on his face.
The three of us, headed down the mall, trying to decide what to do for dinner. We came to the conclusion that Quiznos Subs must be sampled. However when we got there, they had closed and the people were inside mopping the floors. To this, we made our way accross the road in a very purposeful manner and went into Subway. Note to Quiznos people, if you want to be in competition with Subway, you have to be OPEN...Alot!

After dinner we met Kel and Pat at the movies to view Closer, a very strange film indeed. Although Pat seemed to disagree with me, I thought it was a movie for men, by a man. The women end up feeling like shit. There was a 10 minute scene set in a strip club, I saw way too much of Natalie Portman and not enough of Jude Law, only a semi second of him topless, and he was sideways! This is not why I wanted to see the movie, I promise.

Last night there was a Buffy shindig at Steph's. It was great, Buffy is so awesome. There was much discussion over Spikes sexiness...I mean...Goodness, and who could forget the Evil Trio. hehe
It was Buff-tastic indeed, and should be a regular occurance!

After all that exciting stuff, today is a bit of a let down, I must go and clean my room.
Parentals are going out tonight, thank god.

hello hello!
Yes wonderous readers, I am still alive!
I am now in Melbourne after spending a very relaxing week at Lorne, a smallish seaside town along the Great Ocean Road. Its a really beautiful place, and we stayed in these little cottages about 4 minutes walk form the main street. The native birds were abundant, and spent the afternoons eating seeds out of our hands...We had three favourites of course, as you do, with 'Jack', named after Captain Jack Sparrow, the most awesome of awesome pirates, thusly named because he was the only cockatoo brave enough to fly and sit on my shoulder in order to get to the seed - what a champ! There was also 'Stumpy', because he had a stump instead of a foot, and was always being attacked by the other cockies - Ahh the life of the underdog, and then there was 'Tough Nuts' whose head was seriously messed with by Joanna!

Anyways when I get home I will blog properly about my trip with photos as well, right now I am running out of internet credit, and should go and meet my cousin for lunch.

Australia Unites

This evening I got home from work to find my dad watching television. This isnt so strange I hear you comment, and you are absolutely right. However the strange part is WHAT my dad was watching. Tonight is the night of 'Australia Unites' an event in Sydney with lots of cool Australian artists, with the exception of the likes of *cough* Guy Sebastien *cough*. Anyways to show our united-ness, this is being telecast on all three commercial tv stations, also on about five different radio stations, I thought 'IMPOSSIBLE to escape from it'. So anyway, I walk inside, to find my dad watching the ABC news....and listening to his iPod whilst making dinner....No sign of 'Australia Unites'. Only my dad. Anyways, I soon made sure this didnt last, as I tuned in. Rove and Bert Newton kissed - that was gross.

They just announced that since 6:30pm (its now 9:47pm), Australia has raised AUS$12 366 204.72
I'm impressed.
No wait, now its $15 198 349.38
Even more impressed

Ok, I am bored now.

I promise to blog tomorrow, before I go on a TWO WEEK HOLIDAY!!! Hell yes!!
Maybe, if I'm lucky, I might be able to post while I'm in melbourne, that would be cool!

Evolution

I forgot to write about this before - but today I came up witha theory of evolution actually its more a theory of Amelia's evolution - well really its just a story about Amelia.
Anyway, before the exams, Mia was a funky Catermapiller - that's right, CaterMApiller - and anyway, after she went all smart and did her exams, also known as her time in hibernation in her cocoon - I know that hibernation probably doesnt aoccur in a cocoon, what DO you call that time? - and now she got her results, which I dont know if I can write on here, but I will anyway, a TER of 99.8, well, lets just say, she emergerd from her cocoon (are you sick of me writing cocoon? coz I am) and she is now known as an UBER NERD!!!!

lalala, and Kate who is a smarty and got full marks, doesnt count, coz she was always like that...Mia EVOLVED!!!

Uber Post

Well, I was going to blog about wednesday, yesterday, but I got lazy and so I didnt - but a quick rundown, I went bowling with my brother and my dad (I'm so cool right now!) and it was fun, mainly because I won both games, and because about halfway through our second game, this family started bowling in the lane next to us. The mother, at least I think she was the mother, was even more uncoordinated than me (though not quite as uncoordinated at jason), and so when she bowled, she kind of did this funny wiggling dance - the honey bee waggle dance if you will - and then kind of threw the ball down the lane, and then, you know how when some people play video games on an Xbox or Playstation or whatever, and when they play car racing games especially, and they kind of swerve left and right as they control the car - DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND THIS? I hope so, Anyway this is what this lady was doing, and surprisingly, as she was such a bad bowler, she actually did ok, with a couple of strikes and a few spares, so i guess, she wasnt really a bad bowler, anyway, I found it amusing. the second thing that happened on wednesday was that Jojo rang me and hoiked me to the movies with her, Sally and Skye. We went and saw 'Finding Neverland' which was really awesome, I really liked it, and for thos of you who have seen it, that bit near the end, with the other world, and the faeries and the costumes...AHHHH AMAZING!! I want to do that!!
After that we drove to Elsa's house somewhere near the beach, brighton I think, and then Jojo drove Sally and Elsa, now fairly inebriated, into town. They were going psycho in the back seat, claiming everything was "so *fill in the blank with a word like hot, cool, sexy* right now". It was freakin hilarious. Elsa wanted to sue the guy in the car next to us, for the two crimes he committed - 1) He wasnt hot
and 2) He didnt look at her
Never mind the fact that he was old, and gross! It was funny coz she kept yelling this out, even though his window was open, as was mine - he totally heard, but did a good job of ignoring them

Um, yeah we dropped them off then Jojo came to mine for a while, she left at like 12:30ish.

yeah so that wasnt so brief...meh

TODAY - well today we had a shindig at Jojo's as a sort of farewell to us coz we are going away for two weeks. Lots of people showed, which is exciting and we sawm - well I didnt, but I got wet enough to have looked like I did - and played tennis, and laughed at Jason, and discovered that thirteen people can fit in Jojo's spa, and spoke about free water, and tried to get Jason in the water, which he hates so much. But he bit people so hard that it drew blood, so I guess they decided not to try anymore. Also he was wearing an outfit that was a Star Trek replica - very amusing, i will get photos up soon.
Um, what else....? Oh yeah there was cartwheeling into the pool, as well as ice in the spa - which I think is counterproductive but whatever.

Anyway, it was fun and I will mis my friends alot. This sounds corny.

The Biggest Bum Ever...

yes, well today that is me...Its 5:18pm, and i am still in my peejays, and have been on the net all day.... like the full on geek that I am.

The Year That Was....

Well, I guess now is as good a time as ever to recount the evenings events as they unfolded as we brought in the new year.
The day was spent, well by Mia and I at least, waiting for Jojo to come pick us up and take us to our picnic. Thats right, we had a picnic, in the Botanic Gardens no less. I made cupcakes with pink icing, it was fun. Anyway we met Andrew, Phil and Emo there and were later joined by those known as the Pool guys....in a non kinky 'the mexican pool man' kind of way. We play pool with them in the Unibar. After being laughed at by this African guy (who Emo claimed looked like Joanna - who is 17, white and FEMALE), who was riding his bike around in circles - yeah he laughed at US!! - we piled into Jojo's humungo car, also know as the spaceship, or the space voyager (its huge!), we made our way to Norwood to pick up Emma. By this time, there were seven of us in the car, which, although its a seven-seater car, is fairly uncomfortable. "Where's the submarine button?"
An after note on Jo's car...after driving a specified number of metres, like 15 or something all the doors lock at the same time, it makes a big noise and suddenly you are locked in...its creepy... But the car is American, so I guess it makes sense...crazy Americans.

We travelled down to Ali's at Brighton in record time of about twenty minutes...It has been known to take Jo an hour and a half...no wait an hour and 15 MINUTES. Our time at Ali's was shortlived as we headed up to Matt's house in Belair to crash his NYE partay, we went via KFC and the bottlo...which really isnt important...except that Michael had to eat his KFC sitting on the floor of Jo's car....while being kicked by Andrew and Bodie, and payed out by us...amusing
Matt's was fun while we were there, I got to catch up with a few people I havent seen in AGES a la Tom, Jacob, Matt and Chris.

Meanwhile Jojo travelled back down the 'big hill' to pick up our new recruit, Steph. We left Matt's because some people, namely Kelly and Ali, were scared they would miss the fireworks, however I think it had more to do with the fact that they wanted to get pissed on the beach with the Blackwood boys. Being back at Brighton was fairly dissappointing for me, mainly because we were the first car load to arrive. By we, I mean Jojo, me, Jesskah, Daniel, Bodie, Andrew, Michael and Steph. By being the first ones there, we were forced to wait ...for ages....however a few interesting things happened...well really only one... Steph and I did a really good job of being Adelaidian and knowing our way around... While we were walking along, this really quietly spoken American girl approached us and asked which way Glenelg was. With much conviction, Steph and I both pointed to our left, "Its a while back that way". She thanked us and proceeded to move along in the opposite direction to the way we pointed. Then, another American, male this time, came close to us, yelled "Fucking Aussies" and then asked us which way Glenelg was, again we pointed to our left. And yet he continued to walk with us, closer to Jetty Rd in Brighton. As we crossed the road, he felt compelled to tell us what felt like his life story, but was really just the reason he was in Adelaide for New Years - He's from California and his "favourite cousin" got married on christmas eve, and his mother wanted to spend the summer in Australia, and his grandmothers birthday was on the 31st - and then we found out how he had lost his "favourite cousin", which was followed by a movie moment of his cousin popping out from behind the Brighton Jetty Arch and saying "Cuz!". California dude then thanked us, kissed and hugged us and left. It was only then that we found out that Glenelg was actually to our right....Man, I felt stupid!

When the others finally showed up, it was about 11:30pm (we had left Matt's at 10:30) and they had new recruits, the blackwood boys otherwise known as Denley, Shaun, Sam, and....um...i forget. Kelly, Ali and the Blackwood promptly disappeared with the Blackwood boys down onto the beach with a full bottle of vodka and many a beer. I wouldnt mind it is they were always like that, but they arent, they turn into different people when they are around boys and alcohol, and I know I'm not the only one who is sick of it. Not only did they disappear with alcohol that wasnt entirely theirs, they also well, disappeared. No one knew where they were. Did I mention that these are the two with the most strict and protective parents out of all of us?
So anyway, we decided that we may as well try to find them and walk down on the beack in the direction of Glenelg.

BAD IDEA.

At about 11:55 Jess, Daniel Em and I decided that this was ridiculous and that we would stop walking. we sat on the beach and watched the fireworks from a distance, Jason meeting us there. By now, our one group was split into at least three and we decided that the most sensible thing would be to keep walking along the beach to try and find the others. Again we stopped and Jojo called, and the found us, with three more guys in tow, one of which was SKYE!! Hooray for Skye who is over from Melbourne, its all very exciting. Again, we all set off in the Glenelg direction but it wasnt long before I again found myselof in the lagging group, with a couple of newbies, Mia and Anthony...a very drunk Anthony. I'm boring myself, so to cut this long recount about the beach short, me and Daniel lost the others and walked all the way to Glenelg. I dont know about in daylight, but in the dark at 1am, Glenelg is a fucking long way from Brighton. When we got there we had no idea what to do, we had no idea where anyone was, and the damn phones werent working because of all the New Year Well Wishes being sent around the globe. We finally got a hold of Jo who claimed to be sitting on a roundabout near a park with a very drunk bunch including kelly and the BB - Ali was nowhere to be found, surprise surprise.

So Daniel and I turned around and began our trek back to bloody Brighton. Did I mention that I had only just met Daniel?!? Yeah way to be safe, walk a couple of k's in the dark early hours of the morning on New Years with a guy you've just met. ANYWAY... we kept our eyes peeled for the others sitting on a roundabout near a park, yeah that didnt exist. We made it back to Ali's house after two, so so tired, and I still claim that the others were on a roundabout that doesnt fucking exist!

Ali's house was fairly sober, what with Ali and Kelly's parents sitting in the kitchen wondering where their daughters are... Inebriated and in a random park, and AWOL....

By this time I was kind of pissed off, this isnt how its supposed to go.

Kelly's dad went out to find them and came back with a car load, Kelly was promptly pushed inside to explain herself, while trying not to slurr or fall over, while Denley made his way down the back of Ali's yard and fell asleep in the grass. Ali's dad made the next trip collecting all the girls ...yeah thats fair.... And leaving the boys to make their own way back to a house they have only spent ten minutes at...ever.

Being as they are however, these events seemed to have no effect on the consciences of kelly and ali...hmmm

Some time here, Andrew, Jono, Tom, and Chris arrived at Ali's...they kept disappearing and appearing throughout the morning. And Melia crashed in Ali's bed about here too...

The rest of us busied ourselves with intelligent conversation - quotes of any sort, mainly from The Simpsons and Monty Python, only being interrupted occasionally by Raf's phone yelling "Message, You have a message" in a really manic voice, and the frequent sledging of Bodie by Ron about his choice of Uni course next...THIS year... A Bachelor of Arts, also known as A Bachelor of Attendance. These common sledges however were rebutted by Bodie on account of the other three CHOOSING to do Summer School...in MATHS...BY CHOICE...nerds.

By about 5, we'd had enough and so a few of us piled into the spaceship for an early morning roadtrip - from Brighton to Highgate to Gepps Cross back to Mitcham. Me and Jojo crashed at Steph's, we arrived at about 7am and got all peejayed up and watch Buff episodes until 8:30. We then slept...all day, Steph and I tuned in for more Buffy at 4:30pm and Jojo joined us at 6:21 she informs me. We all watched more Buffy, ate mini spring rolls and discussed whether hair keeps growing after you die, and if so, how can Angel keep so groomed, seeing as he is a vampire and has no reflection, how does he shave? the same goes for Spike. And why did 'Callie' (who should be called Allie, in order to maintain order) have such clean armpits after being locked in a basement for weeks by Cult Frat boys? Does she wax or has she had laser fair removal. And why doesnt Buffy have more scars on her neck, she has been bitten by vampires THAT often...continuity is IMPORTANT. Intelligent conversation indeed.

And so, Ladies and Gentlemen, that was my New Years Eve. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did....yeah right.
